Valencia 1-1 draw at home with Rayo Vallecano

Valencia have continued their battle against La Liga relegation with a 1-1 draw at home to Rayo Vallecano. Los Che leaves the drop zone over night owing to an important location at the Stadium Mestalla, but their chances of survival are still murky. But it wasn't all smooth sailing for the home team, as Santi Comesana's calm finish gave Rayo an early lead. After the restart, Valencia made a response, as Justin Kluivert forced an outstanding save from Stole Dimitrievski as the home team tried to apply more pressure.

In the end, Kluivert would prove crucial as he converted a contentious late penalty to extend Valencia's home winning streak in the league to three games. By virtue of goal differential, Valencia has moved out of the bottom three and will now face Atletico Madrid's neighbours Rayo against them this weekend when they go to relegation opponent Almeria.
