What Mario Balotelli has been able to do with OGC Nice in the Ligue 1 so far, is simply the stuff of legend. The Italian striker was pretty much finished according to all the big clubs that didn't want to sign him, his off-the-field antics gave him some unwanted reputation of being a troublemaker and only clubs with a small budget had the courage to try and sign him during the transfer window.
It ended up being OGC Nice, a modest club from the South of France that since they signed Balotelli, hasn't stopped surprising everyone thanks to his skills. Nice is currently the Serie A leader and Balotelli has delivered some very impressive performances, but apparently not enough to earn him a call back to the national team. The Italy boss is still not convinced with his performances, he may want to wait for a few months before he makes a decision.
Talking to the press about a possible call-up, coach Giampiero Ventura said: "Will I talk with Balotelli? Absolutely, yes. As to whether he'll be called up, right now I don't know. His qualities are not up for discussion, but there are other things that can be questioned and now we have to see where we can go. The strength of a team is to have everyone pulling in the same direction, everyone has to be on board. That goes for every player, not just Balotelli. The talk that I'll have with him won't be decisive in whether or not he's called up."
