Gaetano Oristanio's header from a corer gave the visitors the lead early in the second minute, but Verona equalized just ten minutes later with a volley from Casper Tengstedt.

At the resumption, Tengstedt came dangerously close to adding a second consecutive goal, missing by inches. Before the visitors could clear a late corner, both goalkeepers were pushed into fast saves in the second half. Joronen was unlucky to be in the way as the ball rebounded off him and into the back of the net for a sloppy winner. With four points and just one victory so far this season, Venezia is still one spot off the bottom of the standings, with only Monza without a win below them. On nine points, Verona surpassed Como, which had lost to league leaders Napoli in the day's first game, to enter the top 10.
