Barcelona youngster Víctor Barberá is set for a lengthy spell out after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury. The 21-year-old forward, who had been in excellent form for Barca Atlètic with eight goal contributions in seven games, suffered a rupture in the anterior rectus of his right leg earlier this month. On Tuesday, the club confirmed that Barberá underwent successful surgery at the Hospital de Barcelona, performed by doctors Jordi Puigdellívol and Marc Aguilar from the club’s medical team.
The recovery process is expected to keep him sidelined for around five months, ruling him out for most of the season. The setback is a major blow for Barca Atlètic, who are already short on attacking options. Barberá’s absence leaves a big gap in Rafa Márquez’s side as they fight for consistency in the Primera Federación.
