Boniface was on the radar of Al Nassr, who ultimately opted for Aston Villa forward Jhon Durán in a hefty €77 million deal, redirecting their focus away from the Nigerian striker.
Negotiations had been in full swing, with a Saudi delegation arriving in Germany to finalize terms for Boniface. However, the unexpected move for Durán resulted in the termination of Al Nassr's interest in the forward.
A switch to Al Nassr would have seen Boniface's annual salary skyrocket from €2 million to a remarkable €15 million. However, in an interview, he conveyed that such financial figures do not sway his focus.
"Transfer rumours are a typical aspect of football. While it's certainly flattering to receive interest from prominent clubs, my main focus is purely on Bayer Leverkusen," Boniface commented.
Having joined Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023 for €20 million, Boniface has recently extended his contract until 2029.
