Villa can't imagine Barcelona without Messi

Leo Messi's contract extension is one of the most controversial topics there are in FC Barcelona at the moment, the press in Spain is repeatedly talking about the possibility of him thinking about ending his contract in 2018 and not signing a new one. His reasons according to the press from Madrid, is that Messi has grown tired of not having any new challenges in the club and he would like to play in another institution.

But the club's president Josep Maria Bartomeu doesn't seem worried when the press questions him about this renewal, either he is certain it will happen or Messi's decision to leave is actually true. But the press from Barcelona supports the idea that Leo is just waiting to see how the wage scale ends up after the rest of the players have renewed their contracts. He obviously wants to be the best-paid player in the club, but he is patiently awaiting for 2017 to come.

One of the people who has no doubts Messi will sign, is former Barcelona player David Villa, who talking to the press addressed this subject and also talked about the recent Ballon d'Or given to Cristiano Ronaldo by France Football: "I think it will happen [a renewal] in the future, sooner or later. Barcelona love Messi and Messi loves Barca, anything else we can't imagine. I think it is a difficult vote to evaluate. Sometimes, personal performance is counted over others because of the displays of the team. That happened this year and has happened in many others."
