The Yellows knew they needed a response after being eliminated from the Conference League during the previous week, and they delivered. In only 14 minutes, Samu Chukwueze gave Villarreal the lead by converting a well placed cross from Alfonso Pedraza with his knee. The winger also believed he had scored a second goal, but VAR determined that he was offside. In El Sadar, Quique Setién's team had good control of the match, despite the fact that the hosts did hit the crossbar in the second half.

Substitute In a stylish manner, Jose Luis Morales ended the game. Having recovered possession of the ball 45 yards away, the former Levante player took a shot when Aitor Fernandez was off his line. In added time, Morales squeezed in to turn in a cross from Yeremy Pino for a third goal. All day, Yeremy was excellent.
