Villarreal thrashed Osasuna 4-2

With a resounding victory over Osasuna on Saturday, Villarreal finished the day fifth in the league standings and guaranteed a Champions League berth. For Marcelino's team, it was a huge stride forward that all but guaranteed them a spot in the European competition the next season.

The Yellow Submarine had a dominating 3–0 lead going into halftime, practically sealing the victory. Osasuna pushed hard in the last minutes, but they finally lost, despite their refusal to give up and their heroic fight to the final whistle. The loss is a setback in their fight to break into the European elite. Ayoze, with a brace, along with Barry and Pepé, found the net for Villarreal in an attacking masterclass that also saw the return of Baena. Rubén García and Aimar (from the penalty spot) scored for the visitors.
