Wamangituka’s wonder goal helps Stuttgart win

Stuttgart registers first home win in Bundesliga by defeating Mainz by 2-0 thanks to the goal from forward Silas Wamangituka. The striker ran 80 meters in a one-man counterattack to push a goal past goalkeeper Robin Zentner to take his tally to 11 goals this season. Stuttgart were carrying an embarrassing record of 9 times winless run at home and finally put an end to it on Friday. Karim Onisiwo almost scored for Mainz but his header struck the crossbar in the 61st minute.

Mainz kept looking for opportunities to score after Sasa Kalajdzic set his side ahead 10 minutes after the break, but could not find a way past Stuttgart’s defenders donning on rainbow-colored jersey. Stuttgart is currently 10th on the Bundesliga table while Mainz is second to bottom with three points lead over Schalke.
