Watkins carries 10-men Villa to win

Ollie Watkins strikes again to help Aston Villa rise to a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace despite being a player down. Dean Smith praised Watkins' efforts as well after the game. Before half-time itself their position was precarious, Tyrone Mings was shown two yellow cards but they were one up with Bertrand Traore's early goal. They managed to keep a clean sheet in the second half with a 10-men squad and an ironclad determination to win with goals from Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi.

While Watkins may not have been on the scoresheet he was involved in all three goals and hit a post later as well over Palace. Aston next will face Chelsea but without Mings who clashed with Wilfried Zaha on two separate occasions. Roy Hodgson on the other hand would have to wait some more to make a comeback from 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
