Reports claim Mamelodi Sundowns are closing a $3.5-million deal for Colombian forward Brayan Leon. Fans are naturally curious about this latest South American target. The 25-year-old is a mobile, pacey forward similar to Lucas Ribeiro, favoring technical skill over aerial prowess. However, he has never played outside Colombia, raising legitimate concerns about his adaptation to South Africa, a hurdle previous Latino signings have faced with mixed success.

Leon debuted with Deportivo Pereira, winning the 2022 championship, before a goalless stint at Atlético Junior. He rebounded at Independiente Medellín, notably netting six goals in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana. While his 13 league goals last season are promising, his disciplinary record is truly alarming: he accumulated 20 yellow cards in 34 starts. With 73 career bookings and six red cards in 215 appearances, his combative nature is undeniable. Sundowns supporters will hope his goal-scoring ability outweighs potential disciplinary headaches in the Betway Premiership.
