Specialized media sources report a preliminary agreement exists for 2027, meaning "La Pulga" is ready to don the "Lepra" red-and-black colors. The Argentina captain would reportedly transfer on loan from Inter Miami, where he remains under contract until 2028, to play a championship season in his homeland.

This ambition is driven by new Newell’s president, Ignacio Boero, who seeks to transform this dream into a concrete opportunity by guaranteeing maximum security for Messi and his family regarding their routine.

While 2026 could mark his final World Cup with the Albiceleste, 2027 might begin with the iconic image of Messi gracing the Argentine Primera División pitches. The "Coloso del Parque," Newell’s stadium, is already starting the countdown for the return of the legend to where his incredible journey first began.
