With a lucky French league victory, Marseille moves up to second

Marseille struggled to a 2-1 victory over Lyon to reclaim second place in the French league, and it took a fortunate own goal to extend their unbeaten run away from home to 11 games. With just one loss in 16 games, the nine-time French champions have the greatest road record this year.

Just before halfway, Cengiz Under scored the first goal for the visitors, and in the 67th minute, Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon equalized. Marseille had many opportunities after the break but was ineffective. Malo Gusto's own goal gave Marseille three crucial points in the fight for the second automatic Champions League place, fortune was on the visitors' side. Two minutes into the extra period, Lyon was unable to block an Issa Kabore cross. When Sinaly Diomande mishandled his clearing and fired straight at teammate Gusto, the ball took a deflection and went into the goal.
