Wolfsburg travels to third spot on the table by beating Freiburg

Wolfsburg leapfrogged Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt and stays in contention for Champions League qualification by climbing to the third spot on the table by beating Freiburg 3-0 on Sunday. Wolfsburg extends its unbeaten run to five matches and is now 10 points behind leader Bayern Munich and 3 points adrift Leipzig who sits second.

United State’s John Brooks opened for Wolfsburg in the 21st minute, Wout Weghorst scored his 13th goal of the season to make it 2-0 lastly defender Keven Schlotterbeck struck to complete the 3-0 routing. Freiburg midfielder Baptiste Santamaria missed three chances to score against Wolfsburg with two headers which failed to find the goal and the last went outside the post. Freiburg is 9th on the table on the other side of the table Cologne registered a 3-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld with two goals by Marius Wolf.
