Nate McMillan was serving as the interim coach to Atlanta Hawks for quite some time now but after the Hawks’ successful season which ended at the Conference Finals. Hawks have decided to reward McMillan’s efforts and remove the interim table and sign him on as the permanent coach with a four-year deal. Mcmillan took over the reins from Lloyd Pierce in January and directed Hawks to one of their best seasons after slumping to 14-20 to 40-31 and ending the season at the 5th spot.
McMillan has a good 688-599 record in the 10 playoff berths in 17 seasons so far in his career and with young and talented Hawks he could improve the numbers in the next four years. Hawks surprised everyone by taking down the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs and then pulled off an even more impressive win against top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers to advance to the Conference finals for the first time after 2015.
