Austin Reaves affirms commitment to Los Angeles Lakers

Austin Reaves is eligible for a five-year, $241 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers after declining a four-year, $89 million offer in June. While not fixated on securing the maximum possible amount, sources indicate Reaves is aware of industry standards set by comparable players.

On June 23, the Lakers, including top officials Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka, presented Reaves with the maximum extension allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, Reaves can sign a five-year, $241 million deal with Los Angeles or a four-year, $178.5 million contract with another team The initial annual salary of $41.5 million would represent 25 percent of the 2026-27 salary cap.

Reaffirming his desire to stay, Reaves told ESPN, "I've said it a million times. I want to be in L.A. I love it." He clarified that rejecting the previous offer doesn't mean he's seeking an unrealistic, "gigantic number."
