After winning the MVP award in a pregame ceremony, Embiid recorded 30 points and 13 rebounds in his second game back from a damaged right knee. De'Anthony Melton's 3-pointer gave the Sixers a chance to draw the crowd back into the game for exactly 20 seconds before Malcolm Brogdon answered with a 3-pointer to give Boston a 100-92 advantage. Al Horford destroyed the Sixers once more, like he has throughout much of his career, by sinking a 3-pointer for a seven-point advantage.
Tatum hit a jumper that all but ended the game after Embiid missed a pull-up 18-footer while being forced to try and win it alone without any significant offensive assistance. The Celtics took command of the series as Tatum sank one more 3-pointer for good measure. Boston spiked any emotional carryover from the ceremony and raced to a quick 10-point lead.
