Bulls defeat the Timberwolves in double overtime.

The Chicago Bulls beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-131 in double overtime on Friday night, moving them into 10th place in the Eastern Conference play-in race. The bad news is that even though the Bulls were essentially at full strength, they still had to play DeMar DeRozan for 52 minutes and Zach LaVine for 46 minutes against a mediocre Timberwolves team that was already missing Karl-Anthony Towns and later lost Anthony Edwards to an ankle injury after just 8 minutes and Rudy Gobert to six personal fouls late.

This Bulls squad struggles mightily, but they did make history when DeRozan and Zach LaVine combined for the highest points by a duo in team history with their 49 and 39 points, respectively. The Bulls also made 54.3 percent of their shots and got a strong performance from Nikola Vucevic, who finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and a poster slam that served as the game-winning shot.
