Celtics gave up in their 150-117 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder

Despite their effort problems, the visitors kept up with Oklahoma City in the first quarter, but the hosts' historically offensive blitz in the following three frames completely overwhelmed them. Despite playing without their leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder set a franchise mark for points in a quarter with 48 in the third period and had five different players score in double figures.

After everything was said and done, Oklahoma City had scored the second-highest number of points against the Celtics in franchise history, leaving this 2022–23 team in a bad situation in the historical books. Even though Oklahoma City had a great shooting night throughout the board, they were most effective inside the paint, where they scored 70 points compared to only 46 for Boston. Rob Williams was absent due to injury management, thus the Thunder feasted on a Boston defence that couldn't stop dribble penetration without a dependable rim protector.
