Celtics, Wizards, and Grizzlies finalizing a blockbuster three-team trade

The Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies reportedly are finalizing a blockbuster three-team trade on the eve of the 2023 NBA Draft. Sixth overall in the 2014 NBA Draught, Smart played nine seasons with the Celtics. In each of those years, he advanced to the postseason, and in 2021–22, he was named defensive player of the year. While star point guard Ja Morant serves a 25-game suspension to start the 2023–24 season, Jones and Smart provide Memphis with the much-needed backcourt depth. The Celtics benefit from Porzingis' frontcourt scoring, solid outside shooting, and formidable inside defence.

For the Wizards last season, he averaged a career-high 23.2 points per game and shot 38.5 percent from outside the arc. Additionally, he participated in 65 games, which is the most since 2016–17.
