Brooklyn Nets’ announcement that Steve Nash would be their next interim coach, in place of Jacque Vaughn, took everyone by surprise. The news has caught the eye of critics, one, in particular, Stephen A. Smith, boldly claiming it to be white privilege, as Nash lacks the experience needed to qualify for the role.
Countering the comment, Charles Barkley called out Smith indirectly that the allegations are misplaced in fact he pointed out the hiring of Black coaches, Doc Rivers, Jason Kidd, and Derek Fisher who, at that time, had no experience for the roles as well.
Further, he expressed his disappointment saying people need to check their facts before going on national television and talk about race and privilege.
