Chicago Bulls sign Tristen Newton to a two-way contract

The Chicago Bulls have officially added Tristen Newton to their roster on a two-way contract. To create the necessary roster spot, the team waived Tyler Smith, the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Smith had not appeared in a single NBA game since being signed by the Chicago Bulls in early December.

Newton joins the team following a dominant stint in the G League with the Iowa Wolves. While there, he averaged impressive numbers: 26.8 points, 7.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. Furthermore, he shot the ball efficiently, hitting 49.4 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from three-point range. This acquisition adds significant offensive firepower and versatility to the Bulls' active lineup rotation immediately.
