Clint Capela extends contract with the Hawks

A two-year extension worth $42 million with incentives to push it to $46 million is been reported to be agreed by Clint Capela with the Atlanta Hawks. With 2 years to go in his contract, a deal earning $82 million over the next four seasons is on the plate for the 27-year-old staying with the Hawks.

The Eastern Conference Finals last season with the team has put Capela in the spotlight who averaged 15.2 points and a league-best 14.3 rebounds in the regular season. He also was instrumental in the wins over the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. Ending the 2020-21 campaign with a 4.98 defensive real plus-minus, Capela was only leaded by Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert in the last year's NBA Defensive Player of the Year category. Capela’s 12.7 points average and 10.4 rebounds per game over 397 career games with the Rockets and Hawks, He joins All-Star guard Trae Young and power forward John Collins in the Hawks extension list.
