Boston Celtics guard Derrick White has become one of the hottest trade topics of the offseason, especially after Houston lost Fred VanVleet to a season-ending ACL injury. Analysts have linked White to the Rockets, suggesting he could fill the void and elevate them into contention. On The Bill Simmons Podcast, Bill Simmons called White the “dramatic name” of the market, stressing that acquiring him would demand significant assets. He even questioned whether Houston could push for a title with White leading alongside their young core. Despite the speculation, Boston still views White as central to their plans, particularly with Jayson Tatum sidelined by an Achilles injury. 

White is under contract for four more years, with a player option in the final season. Last year, he averaged 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and shot 38.4% from deep, underscoring his value.
