On Friday night at the Golden 1 Center, the Sacramento Kings defeated the Utah Jazz 105-104 in an exciting home opening for the 2025–26 season. Domantas Sabonis' game-winning shot in the closing seconds of the game sealed the victory. After a Thursday practice, Sabonis was allowed to play after initially being predicted to miss the game due to a hamstring issue. He made a much-needed impact, ending with a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in 36 minutes.
Following Malik Monk's failed attempt, Sabonis collected an offensive rebound on the last possession and made a point-blank shot, garnering a foul call from Walker Kessler. Sacramento's defense, spearheaded by Schroder, forced Keyonte George to miss a 21-foot buzzer-beater, lowering the Kings' season record to 1-1 even though he missed the subsequent free throw.
