Golden State could land Antetokounmpo by sacrificing Jimmy Butler

Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reports San Francisco is evaluating scenarios sending Butler to Milwaukee. Although the Warriors previously promised not to trade Butler following his ACL injury, Antetokounmpo’s potential availability altered their stance. Fischer asserts that until the February 5 deadline, Golden State will explore every avenue to turn Butler’s contract into a deal for the Greek superstar.

This contradicts GM Mike Dunleavy’s earlier comments ruling out a trade. However, waiting for a 36-year-old returning from severe injury presents risks Golden State wishes to avoid. Pairing Giannis with Stephen Curry creates an instant championship contender. With Milwaukee previously interested in Jonathan Kuminga, a deal works financially. Ultimately, Giannis has always been the Warriors' dream target to partner with Curry since Kevin Durant left in 2019.
