With the most anticipated 2021-22 NBA season ahead, Atlanta Hawks are pacing up their campaign plans with Jahlil Okafor in the team’s speculations. Okafor is to take up the final hope to join the Hawks in the coming season. The 25-year-old player is facing a non-guaranteed deal that requires the 3rd overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft to prove his worth to head coach Nate McMillan ahead of the training camp.
Falling from high to low, Okafor’s career has been dwindling between shifts to the Nets from Sixers in 2017, then to the New Orleans Pelicans and the Pistons. Following a hopeless result of the Pistons - Nets’ trade for the DeAndre Jordan deal, Okafor waved last Sept. 9. Averaging 5.4 points and 2.4 rebounds last season, Okafor normed 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks from 2015 to 2018 with the Sixers. The player now partners Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, A.J. Lawson, and Johnny Hamilton in non-guaranteed contracts.
