Hornets confirms the sign-and-trade for Gordon Hayward

The final leg of negotiations is taken care of and the move of Gordon Hayward has been confirmed to Hornets while Boston Celtics have made a hard bargain for the player, trading him and second-round draft picks in 2023 and 2024 both to Hornets for 2022 second-round draft pick. The agreement also states a $28.5 million trade exception in favor of Celtics making it the largest in NBA history.

The only condition for draft pick is Hornets need to finish among the top five in the league next season and the possibility of it is slight. The 30-year-old declined his $34.2 million player option thus putting an end to a three-year stint at Boston and looks forward to a $120 million four-year deal at Hornets. The veteran star has averaged 15.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 30.8 minutes per game in his career with Jazz and Celtics.
