With a 142-105 thumping of the New York Knicks on Friday, the Cleveland Cavaliers increased their NBA-best record and solidified their hold on the Eastern Conference lead with an all-around overpowering performance. As Cleveland made 19 three-pointers, Donovan Mitchell scored 27 points, leading six Cavaliers players to reach double digits. Mitchell also made five of seven three-pointers.

On their way to winning six straight games, Cleveland outscored the Knicks 66-38 in the paint and maintained a 23-6 advantage in fast-break points, increasing their lead to 42. Jarrett Allen scored 10 points before leaving the game in the third quarter due to a right-hand injury, while Evan Mobley contributed 21 points. Despite hitting his head on the court after a heavy fall in the first half, Cleveland player Darius Garland continued to play.
