Reported by Michael Scotto, the Washington State product returns following a brief stint in Detroit where he played just two minutes before being released to accommodate a three-team trade.
Jones impressed as a rookie with Sacramento in the 2024-25 season but found his rhythm with Detroit's affiliate, the Motor City Cruise. In the G League, he posted solid averages of 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks across 26 games, shooting 55.7 percent.
The opportunity arose after Detroit waived Dario Šarić and promoted Daniss Jenkins to a standard deal, creating a vacancy. Jones now fills that open slot, joining Tolu Smith and Wendell Moore Jr. as the team’s two-way players playing under head coach Monty Williams.
