Jason Kidd will be seen as leading the NBA franchise for the third time. Kidd coached the Brooklyn Nets for one season in 2013-14 and the Milwaukee Bucks for four seasons from 2014 to 2018, amassing a 183-190 lifetime record. Kidd has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers. Both of these roles became available after previous head coach Rick Carlisle and general manager Donnie Nelson resigned following the Mavericks' first-round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
