Lakers failed to defend their titles this year after an injury-laden season. After their failure to make an impact without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Lakers have learned the hard way that they need a better supporting cast.
The dream to reach the NBA Finals and win the NBA championship title next year still stays alive as they chase big names this offseason and hit the free agency market with determination. Lakers have also put small forward DeMar DeRozan at the top of their priority list as the San Antonio Spurs players his the unrestricted free agent this summer. But the Lakers would need to engage in a sign-and-trade deal with the Spurs. They have the opportunity to trade Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and the No. 22 picks in the 2021 NBA Draft for DeRozan. It is a trade Spurs cannot overlook. DeRozan has averaged 21.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists this season.
