Los Angeles Lakers beat the NBA-worst Detroit Pistons 125-111

The Lakers, who have won 10 of 15 games overall and are now three games over.500 (29–26) for the first time since a week before Christmas, are led by D'Angelo Russell, who scored 21 points and drained four 3-pointers. Another outstanding offensive performance by the Lakers' new starting lineup saw Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves chip in 15 points apiece as they combined for 96 points. The defence was paced by Davis' six blocked shots, which included an outstanding stop of Jaden Ivey when he was the last player back during a third-quarter 3-on-1 Pistons fast break. Following the game, James called Davis "the defensive player of the year," an honour Davis had never received.

Before this match, the Lakers enjoyed an unusual three-day break between games. In their last home game before the All-Star break, in which James will play for the 20th time, they jumped out to an early 24-point advantage.
