The interim role of executive vice president of basketball operations and general manager would be filled by Joe Dumars. The Kings hope to put a stop to 14 years of failing to make the NBA playoffs next season.
The Sacramento Kings are faced with a challenging situation with their general manager Vlade Divac’s resign. The team announced that the 52-year-old is walking off, post the team’s failure to the playoffs for the 14th consecutive year. The Serbian had been associated with the Kings as a part of its front office since 2015 and had served as the team’s vice-president of basketball operations and general manager. Joe Dumars who had joined as an advisor the previous year will serve as the executive vice-president of basketball operations and general manager on a temporary basis. He will also be involved in the search to find a new general manager. Walton’s first season with the Kings had not been so great, owing to some off-court issues. He also could not gain the trust of his players.
