Tyler Herro scored 30 points, including two key 3-pointers in overtime, to lead the Miami Heat past the Atlanta Hawks 123-114 on Friday, making NBA Play-In Tournament history. Miami became the first No. 10 seed to reach the playoffs since the format began in 2020-21 and the first play-in team to advance with two road wins. The Heat will face Cleveland on Sunday in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Davion Mitchell added three overtime 3-pointers. Trae Young forced OT with a layup and finished with 29 points and 11 assists, while Onyeka Okongwu added 28 points and 12 rebounds. Miami started fast, leading 45-28 before Atlanta tied it at 88. Young’s three gave Atlanta its first lead, but Miami surged late. Okongwu’s 3-pointer and dunk gave Atlanta a 98-92 edge, but the Heat rallied behind Herro and Mitchell to seal the win.
