Tyler Herro was the no. 13 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, as per the option Heat would now pay out Herro $5.7 million for the 2022-23 season. In his rookie year, Herro put up an average of 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while 38.9 percent from 3-point range to rank fourth among the rookies.
He then showed off his mettle in the 2020 NBA Playoffs, posting double-digit scores in 20 matches straight to break the 44-year-old NBA playoff rookie scoring record. He even hit his career-high 37 to help Heat to their first NBA Finals after 2014 and then went on to become the youngest NBA player to hit 30+ points in a playoff game off the bench. Later on, in his second year, his performance trailed off he averaged 15.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists as he failed to take off after April but still Heat has faith in the player.
