The Miami Heat sold Victor Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder, as Shams Charania of the Athletic broke the news first. The Thunder could utilise cap space to absorb him and get payment as a result, so at first it seemed like this move would allow Miami to get off of his contract. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, who initially claimed that OKC will receive any compensation for doing so, verified this.
Over the course of his career, the Thunder will have acquired Oladipo twice through trades. Before being included in the Paul George deal, where he truly began to establish himself as an All-Star calibre player with the Indiana Pacers, he enjoyed a breakout season during his initial stay in Oklahoma City. After that, his career was derailed by multiple injuries. Oladipo averaged 10.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game while playing in 42 games with the Heat the previous season.
