Moe Harkless signs a two-year deal with the Kings

Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair was quite busy in the first few hours of free agency, signing a slew of players to free-agent contracts, including three of his own free agents. McNair resorted to veteran forward Moe Harkless after signing Richaun Holmes and Terence Davis on Friday. Harkless, who joined the Kings at the trade deadline last year, liked what he saw in Sacramento and signed a two-year, $9 million contract extension with the organization.

In 574 career games, Harkless has averaged seven points, 3.6 rebounds, and a block in his nine seasons in the NBA. Harkless, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 220 pounds, is a rangy defender who can play both forward positions. In his 26-game trial stint with the Kings, the 28-year-old had an impact on the defensive end, starting 20 games down the stretch for coach Luke Walton's club.
