The Portland Trail Blazers played a Los Angeles Lakers squad that was without LeBron James and Anthony Davis for all but the opening seven minutes of the game. Damian Lillard was allowed to shoot like he was in practice by the Lakers. This resulted in a 9-19, 6-14 from 3-point range performance, with 25 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Jusuf Nurkic had an outstanding performance as well.
All the rest of the Blazers had to do at that moment was stay out of trouble. They didn't do it. Portland won 105-90 in a game in which they were never seriously threatened. The Blazers were poised to take advantage of their slower, older opponents right away. Whenever feasible, they drove the offense into transition. They also started their halfcourt sets early. In any case, the Lakers were unable to keep up.
