Nick Nurse has been named the new head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers. The 55-year-old Nurse, who served as head coach of the Raptors from 2018 to 2023, is acknowledged as one of the NBA's brightest minds and was in great demand after leaving the Toronto team.
After the Sixers' heartbreaking loss to the Boston Celtics in the second round, former head coach Doc Rivers was fired. Nurse oversaw a seven-game series victory against his new employers during the Raptors' 2019 drive to the championship, and he drew high acclaim for how his team neutralized Joel Embiid's threat. The following year Nurse continued his good work with the Raptors and won NBA Coach of the Year after leading Toronto to a 53-19 record without former star, Leonard. Now, with Nurse and Embiid joining forces for a single team, stopping them could be a difficult task for the league.
