Piston fans would have to wait a lot more before they see Cade Cunningham in action on the court. Suffering from a minor ankle issue Cunningham would miss the club’s preseason opener against San Antonio Spurs who are 1-0 at the moment in the preseason. Pistons head coach Dwane Casey shared the status of the player as he would not be part of the matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
Coach also shared it was clear he needs more practice time before he can return to court. Cunningham is Piston's first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and in the Summer League he averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from 3-point range. The player does have a lot of time to recover till the regular season kicks off on the 20th with the Chicago Bulls.
