On Saturday, Russell Westbrook played despite picking up a slight injury during the Los Angeles Lakers' opening game of the regular season against the Golden State Warriors. Westbrook limped off in their 114-103 loss to the Sacramento Kings, and was initially listed as doubtful to play against the Warriors. He played, scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 31 minutes. Although Westbrook appeared in good shape, it's likely he had the recent hamstring tear in his back of his mind.
The Lakers were blown out 133-86 by the Kings in their final pre-season game before their season opener, and Westbrook scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in spite of playing less than 30 minutes. This increases the chance of muscular pulls if not properly warmed up, especially with less time on the court. Westbrook's line of questioning towards his coaches after their loss to the Lakers may also have been directed at his leg injuries.
