Timberwolves General manager Scott Layden has mutually decided to part ways before the next season starts. Layden has been part of the Timberwolves staff for a long time, he was brought on to run the front office by Tom Thibodeau then he was fired in 2019 to make way for Gersson Rosas. Layden had just joined Timberwolves in 2016 around the same time Thibodeau had joined the team, but Layden had signed a five-year deal that was due to expire in 2021.
When Thibodeau, the current coach of Knicks was sacked Layden temporarily stepped into the role and took control of the basketball operations in 2019 for a brief time then after Rosas was hired in May, Layden served as the general manager.
