The Suns were still a formidable team, even without Cameron Payne and Cameron Johnson, but they were also missing Devin Booker. In spite of that, the Suns defeated a contending team in this contest, a turning point game that they needed.

Four quarters weren't enough to finish this action-packed Christmas lineup, as the Nuggets forced overtime after their late charge. Despite it being a spirited performance from Phoenix, it wasn't enough in the final seconds. As the Suns held the ball with four seconds left, Bridges made a dangerous pass attempt that was intercepted by Bruce Brown, sealing their fate. Despite the undesirable result, Phoenix deserved credit for overcoming the adversity.
