The Cavs champion will be back in Cleveland for his eleventh season

The Cavaliers are re-signing Thompson, 33, to a one-year contract after he played in 49 games during the 2023–24 season, in part due to a 25-game ban. In Cleveland, Thompson is seen as a lieutenant in the locker room who motivates his teammates and serves as a liaison between the coaches and players. As a new coach in Cleveland, Kenny Atkinson brings with him a history of connections with players, including Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, whom he coached while he was with the Brooklyn Nets.

However, Thompson's presence will be crucial in fostering conversation on the floor as the new players and coaching staff get to know one another.
