The Dallas Mavericks dominated the Miami Heat 115-90

Dallas ended a three-game losing run thanks to a 34-point double-double from Luka Doncic. On January 20, the Mavs' shortage of personnel did not become apparent. Dallas was successful because of their excellent defence on Friday night. The team's performance on that end of the floor had been criticised by head coach Jason Kidd after they had conceded 130 points or more in three straight games, but the Mavericks responded well against the Heat.

Dallas opened the game up by holding Miami to 19 points in the first quarter and 16 in the third, and the Mavs never looked back. Doncic was committed from the initial tipoff and finished the first quarter with 11 points for Dallas, giving them a 12-point lead. On Friday night, Luka Doncic created a masterpiece for the audience. The Heat attempted to switch, play zone, double up, blitz, and play zone, but it was ineffective.
