Trae Young, Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, Jalen Johnson, and Kristaps Porzingis were the Hawks' projected starting lineup for the regular season as they flew to Memphis for their final road trip of the preseason. Many of the Grizzlies' star players, including Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant, were sidelined by injuries.
At the first break, the Hawks were ahead 34-26 after separating themselves on the parade to the free throw line. After three quarters, when he had a 20-point, seven-rebound, two-assist, and two-steal stat line, Jalen Johnson's night seemed to be over. Porzingis contributed 13 points, while Risacher ended with 16. The deep bench, which included Vit Krejci, Mouhamed Gueye, Asa Newell, and others, saw out the last quarter. It was a close game because of Olivier Maxence-Prosper and Memphis' end of the bench, but Newell and Keaton Wallace's clutch baskets sealed the victory, 122-116. Next, the Hawks take on the Miami Heat at home.
