Ramu Tokashiki, one of the best players in Japan’s women basketball team and she tore her ACL in her right knee right before the Christmas break, and with the player out of play for a while her team Eneos Sunflowers suffered a setback as well and the national team’s preparation for the Olympics also suffered. Tokashiki though is still not back to action but she is hopeful that by the Olympics she would be ready to represent Japan.
She is the star center of the team and has helped the team win FIBA Women’s Asia Cup four consecutive times and during the Rio 2016 Olympics, averaged 17.0 points and 6.3 rebounds. Japan will play France, Nigeria, and the United States of America in the starting round as part of Group B, and their first match would be with France on 27th July.
