Portland Trail Blazers added Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic to the squad before the Atlanta Hawks match. Both the players were making a comeback after spending a significant amount of time sidelined due to NBA health and safety protocols, the Blazers duo combined for 64 points with 43 of them being Simons’ contribution as he posted his biggest ever score in his career. Blazers in the end sneaked in a 136-131 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
Simons shot 13 of 21 with 9 of 16 threes as he pushed past his emotional state after his father died recently to channel it all on the floor. Nurkic scored 21 points, 12 rebounds while Norman Powell scored 26 points at the Moda Center as Blazers overcame a 56 points performance by Hawks’ All-Star point guard Trae Young and won the match.
