Golden State Warriors defeated New Orleans Pelicans 126-85 on Friday night to improve to 7-1 in San Francisco with Jordan Poole contributing 26 points, and Stephen Curry scoring 19. Warriors had a good 34 point third quarter as Gary Payton II also added 17 points to one of their best openings since 2018-19 where the team went 10-1. For the Pelicans, Jonas Valanciunas scored 20 points and dropped to 1-9 in the season without their injured star forward Zion Williamson.
From the bench Warriors' contribution was far superior to that of New Orleans with 57-30, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was pleased with the efforts put in by the reserves and to see Poole emerge as a scorer alongside Curry. Warriors enjoyed a big lead even before the fourth quarter with 88-66 and pulled through in the last to win the match.
